Privacy Policy

How the TabMagnet extension and website handle settings, logs, messages, analytics, and future advertising.

Last updated: 2026-08-10

Scope

This policy covers the TabMagnet Chrome extension and the public website at tabmagnet.com. The current extension is free and does not require a TabMagnet account or payment. The website provides product information, documentation, legal pages, and an email contact channel.

Extension data

TabMagnet uses Chrome's tabs permission to identify the position and relationship of browser tabs so it can move a newly created tab and choose a neighboring tab after one closes. It uses Chrome storage to save preferences such as new-tab position, close behavior, keyboard behavior, and interface language.

TabMagnet does not need page contents to provide these functions. The project does not intentionally collect or transmit browsing history, page text, form content, passwords, or the list of pages you visit to TabMagnet servers. When Chrome Sync is enabled, Chrome may sync extension preferences under the user's Google/Chrome settings; that processing is controlled by Chrome and the user's Google account choices.

Website data

When the website is requested, hosting and security providers may process standard request data such as IP address, time, requested URL, referrer, user agent, and security signals. These records are used to deliver the site, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and maintain security, and are retained according to provider configuration and operational need.

If you email us, we receive the address, message, and attachments you choose to provide. We use them to answer the request, investigate a report, maintain a record of the resolution, and meet legal obligations. Do not send browsing history or credentials.

The public product currently does not offer a TabMagnet account, checkout, or paid subscription. If those features are introduced, this policy and the product interface must be updated before collection begins.

Analytics and future advertising

Optional analytics or Google AdSense may be added later, but they are not enabled merely because integration code exists in the website framework. If enabled, providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels or web beacons, IP addresses, device/browser identifiers, approximate region, referrer, page and ad interaction data, and consent signals to measure use, prevent fraud, limit frequency, deliver contextual or personalized ads where permitted, and report performance.

We will not intentionally place email content, support messages, browsing history, or direct identifiers into ad requests or custom ad-targeting parameters. Where required, optional analytics and advertising will wait for an appropriate choice through a consent interface. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, Google-related personalized advertising will use a Google-certified consent management platform when required. Users can also use browser controls and Google's ad settings.

Sharing and retention

We do not sell personal information. Data may be processed by hosting, security, email, analytics, or advertising providers only for the purposes described here; disclosed to comply with law; or used to protect users, the service, and legal rights. Retention varies by data type and provider. Support correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the request, security, dispute, or legal record.

Security, children, and rights

We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet service can promise absolute security. TabMagnet is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a copy of personal data. Some request logs may need to be retained for security or legal reasons.
